Rope Skills & Knot Craft

Learn the ropes with Leon, who'll get you comfortable tying the most popular knots for around the home, on the road and all your adventures in between!Solo and group bookings available morning or afternoon in Coober Pedy.

Any level of experience welcome in this fun, hands-on learning environment.Relax outside, bring your own snacks and drinks (non-alcoholic) and enjoy learning how amazingly practical a bit of rope and some knowledge of knots can be!

Each participant will receive:

  • Multiple lengths of rope and paracord

  • A laminated A4 knot board to complete either during the activity or at your leisure

  • Printed sheets with history, information and tying instructions for some of the most popular knots

  • Printed sheet with instructions for a rope craft project (choose one from multiple options offered)

  • Link to Leon's online curated list of rope skills and knot craft resources, so you can continue to advance your knowledge while traveling or back home

Whether you've never tied more than your shoelaces or you regularly trim the main sail on your personal yacht - Leon will have something fun for you to learn!There are about four thousand known knots in the world! Some recommend knowing 4 to 5 essential knots (including bends and hitches). Leon will have up to 10 prepared for our usual learning focus, but will adapt that based on the participants. If you have specific needs, we can look at learning more applicable knots for the purpose!
